CARDIFF Bay’s iconic entertainment venue, The Red Dragon Centre, is creating a buzz with the launch of its bee and eco-friendly campaign.
Following a string of successful events this year already, the Centre is rolling out a host of initiatives and events to bring a ‘Buzz to the Bay’ and foster a safe and nourishing environment for bees and other beneficial insects.
The makeover includes planting colourful wildflower meadows around the Centre’s grounds with plans for bee and bug hotels.
Kicking off the initiative, to mark Earth Day on April 22 and support the Buzz in the Bay campaign, The Red Dragon Centre is hosting a day of free, fun and educational nature events for children to enjoy during the Easter holidays.
From 12-4pm, families are invited to enjoy a hive of activity, including hands-on crafts, interactive quizzes, and educational fun – all themed around bee-friendly living, the importance of bug hotels, and simple ways to protect local wildlife.
Adding an extra buzz to the day, a VIB (Very Important Bee) will be making a special appearance to spread smiles, pose for photos, and meet visitors, while all the Centre’s attractions remain open and buzzing with excitement.
Emma Constantinou, Marketing Manager at The Red Dragon Centre, said: “We are so excited to be kicking off the Buzz in the Bay campaign with our Earth Day event. Bees play a crucial role in keeping our ecosystems healthy and pollinating our food, so we want to do everything we can to foster a nurturing environment for them.
“We are also proud to once again be offering a day of free child-friendly fun at the Centre, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the Easter holidays, while learning more about the world of bees and how we can help them thrive and protect the environment.”
The Red Dragon Centre is a vibrant hub of entertainment, leisure, and dining in Cardiff Bay. It’s home to a range of thriving attractions, including Odeon Cinema—featuring Wales’ only IMAX screen—Hollywood Bowl, Grosvenor Casino, and Fitness Quarter gym, all of which continue to draw visitors and play a key role in the Centre’s ongoing success.
The Centre also boasts a diverse and exciting food scene, with something to satisfy every craving. Visitors can enjoy a variety of global cuisines and casual dining options from popular names like Five Guys, Spice Route, Volcano, EasyThali, EveryTime, Zaika, and the newly added Buffet Tonight.
The Centre is also the site of the Capital FM South Wales studio, which was formerly Red Dragon FM, as well as Heart FM. Today, you’ll find the likes of Josh and Kally broadcasting their Capital Drive Show live from there every weekday.
