A family-run business which began life in Caerphilly nearly a decade ago is reinforcing its commitment to the town by relocating to a new premises in the borough as part of its ongoing expansion.

Fire Seals Direct, a leading supplier of fire protection products, including fire doors, seals, and ironmongery, has moved its main operations from Pontygwindy Industrial Estate to a new 30,000 sq. ft facility in Ystrad Mynach.

The relocation comes following a period of impressive growth for the company, with turnover tripling and headcount increasing significantly over the past five years as demand for its products has surged.

The move will enable Fire Seals Direct to support its expanding team and broaden its product range, building on this recent success.

Since 2021, the team has grown from two to 15 full-time employees, while turnover has risen by an average of 44% year on year. As part of its wider strategy, the company has also added 20 new brands to its portfolio within the past two years.

The new two-storey premises will play a vital role in boosting operational efficiency and enhancing customer service. Alongside  a dedicated warehouse, it will also house modern office space for the customer service and sales teams.

The company also plans to launch a click-and-collect area at the facility, enabling local customers to pick up their orders in person and avoid delivery times.

Speaking at the launch of the new facility, Anthony Robins said: “In the last couple of years, we’ve onboarded hundreds of new products and seen our sales continue to climb – we’re growing at a significant pace. With the rapid expansion of our team and customer offering, we needed a larger office that could support our evolving needs.

“This new premises will not only provide us with the storage and office space we need to house our extensive product range and growing team, but it also offers an accessible location for our customers as we look to develop a click-and-collect service.

“As a Caerphilly born-and-bred business, it was important to us to remain in the borough and this new space will enable us to boost our sales capacity and continue to grow.”

Established in 2016, Fire Seals Direct began as part of CheckFire – a market-leading supplier of fire safety equipment to businesses and tradespeople, founded in the 1970s by the grandfather of current Managing Director Anthony Robins.

Recognising a gap in the market for consumer-facing fire protection products, CheckFire branched out and founded Fire Seals Direct as a separate online retail platform to offer consumers direct access to high-quality fire safety solutions.

Following the move, Fire Seals Direct aims to achieve 300% growth in the next five years and estimates its headcount will reach over 50 staff within the same timeframe.

The new office will support this planned growth by accommodating up to 75 staff across the ground and first floor, future proofing the space.
