The aviation industry’s leading global provider of digital flight information and accuracy statistics, OAG, has released its latest On Time Performance results, which ranks Cardiff Airport as 2nd in the UK.

This reflects the national airport for Wales’ ongoing commitment to delivering a consistent and efficient customer experience, which supports airline fleet’s ability to depart and arrive on schedule.

Measured from June 2017 – May 2018, Cardiff Airport also impressively ranks 25th out of 513 airports worldwide, ahead of many of the UK’s airports, with 87% of flights reported as being on time.

Cardiff Airport was awarded with 5* status in 2017. The 5* programme was created by OAG as mark of quality and recognition for airports and airlines who consistently deliver excellent On Time Performance results. Now, the national airport for Wales stands tall on the global aviation stage as an exemplar of operations, service and progress among industry peers.

Spencer Birns, Commercial Director at Cardiff Airport, commented:

“The OAG rankings are an excellent way for us to benchmark ourselves as an airport business. There are so many elements behind the scenes that contribute to an efficient and enjoyable customer experience, including baggage handling, airfield operations, security and planning.

“To maintain 5* status and rank 2nd in the UK, plus 25th in the world this year is a huge achievement for the team, who work tirelessly to create an airport the people of Wales enjoy using and are proud of.”
