Cardiff Bus has unveiled its summer service plans which launched on the weekend.
For days out in Cardiff Bay, Cardiff Bus is increasing the frequency of the baycar service (route 6) between the city centre and Cardiff Bay from 10th June until 2nd September.
The increased services will allow passengers easy travel to enjoy all that the Bay has to offer including boat rides, great food and drinks in the variety of cafes and restaurants, Techniquest, the Wales Millennium Centre, The Norwegian Church, Senedd and much more. The service will also allow passengers ease of access to the popular Cardiff International Food and Drink Festival which will be returning to Roald Dahl Plass from Friday 7th – Sunday 9th July.
To enjoy the friendly and relaxing atmosphere and cafés at Penarth Pier, there will be a special summer open top service from St Mary Street (Wyndham Arcade stop JE) in Cardiff city centre running daily from 10th June – 3rd September and 9th , 10th , 11th , 16th , 17thand 23rd September. The summer bus will stop outside Penarth Pier Pavilion so you can enjoy a stroll along the promenade or wander up the hill to discover the tranquillity of the flower gardens of Alexandra Park and Windsor Gardens.
Occasionally in inclement weather or for operational reasons Cardiff Bus may substitute a closed-top bus.
For those looking for a traditional day at the seaside, the operator will be running its Route 95 service to Barry Island where passengers can enjoy sandy beaches and family amusements, discover the places featured in the hit TV show Gavin and Stacey or relax in one of the many cafés and restaurants.
For travellers interested in history, service 32 will be running to St Fagans from 10th June, where passangers can enjoy the extensive gardens in the grounds of St Fagans Castle, there is the open-air St Fagans National Museum of History, which has a collection of significant and historic buildings relocated from across Wales, including a farm, a tannery, mills and a chapel.
The operator has also considered that a family day out can become costly, so is offering a range of value tickets, including a reduced price on family tickets during weekends and school holidays. The ticket will cost £9 in Cardiff and Penarth, and £12 to Barry.
