Food lovers are in for a treat this weekend as the Cardiff Food and Drink Festival returns to Cardiff Bay with three days of street food, local produce, live music and family friendly entertainment.
Taking place from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 July in and around Roald Dahl Plass, the free event is one of the highlights of Cardiff’s summer calendar, bringing together local food producers, award winning brands and flavours from around the world.
Visitors can explore several festival zones, including the Producers Fair, Farmers Market, Street Food Piazza, Crafters Market and the Bandstand, which will host live music throughout the weekend. Entry to the festival is free, with food, drink and produce available to purchase directly from individual stalls.
The Producers Fair will showcase a wide range of artisan food and drink, with exhibitors including Barti Rum, Hensol Castle Distillery, Snowdonia Cheese Company, Flapjackery, The Garlic Farm, Zio’s Gelateria and Ridiculously Rich by Alana.
Meanwhile, the Farmers Market will feature more than 50 stalls selling everything from cider, wines and spirits to preserves, honey, fudge, doughnuts, Welsh cakes and fresh local produce.
The Street Food Piazza promises a global menu of freshly prepared dishes, with traders serving everything from tacos, Thai street food and Greek cuisine to gourmet mac and cheese, paella, burgers, churros, dumplings and wood fired pizza.
Alongside the food and drink, visitors can browse handmade gifts and crafts at the Crafters Market, curated by Craft*folk, while enjoying a full programme of live entertainment at the Bandstand across all three days.
The festival opens from 12pm to 10pm on Friday, 11am to 10pm on Saturday and 11am to 7pm on Sunday. While the Street Food Piazza and bars remain open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday, the Farmers Market, Producers Fair and Crafters Market close at 9pm, with trade stalls finishing at 7pm.
Festival organisers have reminded visitors that only alcohol purchased from the event bars may be consumed on site. Alcohol bought from the Producers Fair, Farmers Market or elsewhere cannot be consumed within the festival.
Dogs and other animals are not permitted, with the exception of guide dogs and assistance dogs on leads with identification.
All food producers and caterers attending this year’s festival hold a current Food Standards Agency hygiene rating of four or five.
With dozens of traders, live music and free entry, Cardiff Food and Drink Festival is set to once again transform Cardiff Bay into one of the city’s busiest destinations this weekend.
