Independent opticians in Whitchurch, Cardiff, are merging their practices to safeguard the future of independent eyecare and enhance services available to patients in the local community.

Julian Davies Opticians, situated at 39 Merthyr Road, is joining forces with Bateman Opticians on the opposite side of the street at 32 Merthyr Road. Following a short closure and a refurb, the newly united team will continue to trade from their practice at number 32.

The merger and refurbishment will allow patients to receive the highest standards of eyecare with no additional travel distance.

All patient records from Julian Davies Opticians including contact lens details and supply, have been safely and confidentially transferred to the new premises across the road.

Patients from both practices will also be able to take advantage of an extensive frame selection with new brands such as Prada, Hugo Boss and Rayban, enhanced services including state-of-the-art equipment, a sleek new look for their practice and continued clinical excellence from the team.

The practices will both only be closed with no testing taking place on Monday 4th March with the newly refurbished location being open for trading as normal on Tuesday 5th March. During the period of refurbishment which members from both practices will be taking part in an ‘away day’ where training will take place on the exciting new lens product and spectacle brand offerings.

The practice at 32 Merthyr Road will reopen under the name of Julian Davies Opticians and will welcome patients from both practices to attend their eye examinations at the newly refurbished location.

Patients from both practices will be able to recognise familiar faces with the newly united team consisting of experienced optical professionals from both Julian Davies Opticians and Bateman Opticians.

Chris Tannorella, Director of Julian Davies Opticians, said: “All of the team are really excited for this merger, it’s a fantastic opportunity to combine two practices who really value offering a personalised eyecare service.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming the dedicated and loyal patients from Bateman Opticians and Julian Davies Opticians in our newly refurbished home and, as they will be seeing some familiar faces, we can guarantee their welcome will be a warm one.”

Following their reopening, the team plan to host an official reopening event on the 5th April to offer all patients and members of the local community a chance to see the newly refurbished practice and get to know any new team members, as well as having some exclusive offers for this day only.
