For over 30 years, Swimathon, the world’s biggest fundraising swim, has encouraged swimmers for all corners of the UK to take part, swim a distance that will challenge the individual and raise sponsorship funds in the process.  To date Swimathon has raised more than £50 million for good causes.
Better Leisure is the UK’s largest provider of public swimming and official partner of Cancer Research UK.  This year it is once again teaming up with Swimathon to support fundraising events at over 80 Better swimming pools across the UK, including Maindy and Eastern pools from 27th to 29th March 2020.  Over the past two years Swimathon has raised £4.3million on behalf of the two charities.
Participants can take on distances from 400m to 5k or for those who really like a challenge a triple 5k event, as well as team and family challenges, where teams of 2-5 people can swim 1.5k or 5k.
Rhys Jones, Manager at Better Cardiff, said: “As a charitable social enterprise we are delighted to be supporting Swimathon again this year and to encourage people across the UK to get into the water to help raise vital funds for fantastic causes. There are still chances to register and take part at Better pools in Maindy and Eastern . We encourage everyone to sign up, get active and raise some money.”
Anyone wishing to find out more or to sign up for Swimathon 2020 should go to: www.swimathon.org  or visit their local Better leisure centre.
Registration closes on Monday 23rd March 2020.
