An exclusive documentary film celebrating Llanelli’s much-loved panto company, Friendship Theatre Group, will be broadcast later this month as part of Carmarthenshire Theatre’s programme of digital shows.

‘Oh yes it is! It’s the Friendship panto story’ will delve into the history of this remarkable local company which has been entertaining generations of local families with their annual pantomimes for almost three decades.

Through a mix of cast and audience interviews alongside clips from archive footage, the film celebrates the memories and stories as recollected by those who’ve been bringing the magic of panto to the Llanelli stage for past 26 years.

Familiar faces including former Wales rugby international and past Friendship Theatre president, Rupert Moon, and the Llanelli panto legend, Denys Jenkins aka Denny Twp, make an appearance in the film.

Talking about what makes the documentary special, the film’s producer, the writer and broadcaster Alun Gibbard said: “This is a great story to tell! It’s about a group of people of all ages coming together to entertain in a good, old-fashioned, fun-filled way and making a difference in their community. The fact they’ve been doing so for three decades is a superb testament to their commitment and ability. I hope you enjoy looking back over the Friendship panto years as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together. It’s a lot of fun and reminiscing – right in front of you!”

‘Oh yes it is! It’s the Friendship panto story’ will be broadcast on the Carmarthenshire Theatre’s website on Friday 29th January at 7pm. The film will be available to watch on-demand until February 28th. Tickets are £5 and can be booked online at www.theatrausirgar.co.uk with the option to add a donation to your order which will go directly to Friendship Theatre Group’s chosen local charities.
