Visitors to Clydach Vale Country Park may notice works activity this week, with routine maintenance activity scheduled over the weeks ahead.

The Council will undertake the works from Monday, September 15, and they are planned to last until around the end of October 2025.

Funding has been secured from Welsh Government’s Coal Tip Safety Grant Scheme for this initial phase of work, which will include vegetation clearance to maintain the drainage channels and culverts.

Clearance work will also be undertaken to maintain a better access for future tip inspections and maintenance work.

The RCT Streetcare Team will undertake the work, accessing the site via the ford on Howard Street. An increase in construction traffic is therefore possible at this location between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

There may also be some temporary disruption to pedestrian accesses within the country park during these hours, due to the narrow nature of certain paths. All paths that need to be brought out of use will be temporarily fenced off and clearly marked.

Fencing will be removed at the end of each working day and over the weekends, when all paths will be fully reopened to the public. Some exceptions may be needed to ensure safety.

This work is funded via the £11.49 million allocation from Welsh Government’s Coal Tip Safety Grant, which the Council has secured to monitor and maintain Rhondda Cynon Taf coal tips in 2025/26.
