Get ready Lido Ponty lovers – weekend cold water swims will return for February and March 2024!

After hugely successful Boxing Day and New Year’s Day swims, temperatures at The National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, will once again be turned down to 15 degrees for the return of the popular cold water swims.

Sessions will run from February 3 to March 10, every Saturday and Sunday.

During the six-week season, the sessions will take place at

    • 8am – 8.45am
    • 9am-9.45am
    • 10am-10.45am
    • 11am-11.45am

Open to everyone aged 16 and over, the cold water swims are a perfect way to introduce yourself to outdoor swimming in a safe environment. The sessions have also proved popular with those who are in training for events such as Iron Man.

Lido Ponty has welcomed swimmers from across South Wales to the cold water sessions and is pleased to be able to offer more cold water swimming opportunities, due to demand.

Tickets for all the cold water swim sessions go on sale at 9am on Monday, January 15.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said: “The National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, continues to go from strength to strength, extending its offer for cold water swims, which were so successful last year and have returned for 2024.

“This is a great way for those who love outdoor swimming to enjoy Lido Ponty and its stunning surroundings, while also benefiting from the safety of lifeguard supervision and the comfort of heated changing rooms and showers.

“There are also loads of great places in Pontypridd to grab a warm drink and a filling snack after your swim – why not come along and visit?”
