With the 2026 World Cup drawing near, the opening match takes place on June 11th, there is so much to look forward to in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The release of new team kits has been hugely popular, with Nike and Adidas holding special events. Adidas have gone back to their classic trefoil logo for their away shirts and that has certainly captured the imagination. Football fans love nostalgia and the new Adidas away shirts hit the spot, making their release one of the special moments in the build-up to the World Cup.

This will be the first World Cup with 48 teams, making it the biggest in the history of the competition. Four nations will make their World Cup debut and there will be three host nations to add to the excitement. More nations mean bigger global interest and coverage in the lead-up and during the event. This is going to be a World Cup like no other and every fan is eager is to see how the increased number of teams works and if we will see any major shocks along the way.

The World Cup is one of those events that sees many people have a bet on the potential winner. Even fans who rarely have a wager will bet on the World Cup and everyone should take advantage of the best free bets when gambling before and during the competition. Every sports publication will print their tournament preview and include predictions for the winner. Spain and England are the favourites, but many people are backing France to go one better than they did in 2022 and lift the FIFA World Cup Trophy.

Who will finish as top goal scorer is also a major talking point ahead of the World Cup and this will feature most of the big-name contenders. Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lamine Yamal, and Erling Haaland will all be present.

Fans who are travelling to watch the 2026 World Cup are looking forward to the different venues. In terms of the stadia, one that really stands out is the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Having reportedly cost over $5 billion to build, the SoFi Stadium has a capacity of 69,650 for the World Cup and boasts an indoor/outdoor design, with a huge 90,000 square metre translucent canopy on top but open on three sides to allow air circulation. A 4k video screen weighing 2.2 million pounds is suspended from the roof and can be seen clearly from every seat inside the stadium. For visiting fans who have tickets to one of the 8 matches at this venue, simply visiting the stadium is going to be a big tournament highlight.

Outside of the United States, the historic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City will make history as it becomes the first stadium to host three men’s World Cup tournaments and the Estadio Monterrey has one of the most breathtaking football settings on the planet.

There is so much to look forward to at the 2026 World Cup and the countdown is on. From the new kits and awe-inspiring stadiums to the expanded format and betting on the tournament winner, there is much to be excited about as kick-off approaches.
