Over 100 new homes could be coming to a Blaenau Gwent town after a local developer secured a land deal.

Persimmon Homes East Wales have exchanged conditional contracts for a 103-home development in Tredegar, subject to planning approval, with the application due for submission in early 2024.

The land lies between Tredegar Town AFC and the town’s sports centre and ground to the east and the B4256 junction with Attlee Way to the west. Should homes be built on the site, they will be a short walk away from the local comprehensive school, making it ideal for local families.

The five-star housebuilder – who were assisted by Knight Frank in securing the land agreement – already has a strong presence in the South Wales Valleys, with homes available at its Carn y Cefn site in Ebbw Vale and works due to commence soon at its Twynyrodyn development in Merthyr Tydfil.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes East Wales’ Land Director Adam Ryan said:

“We’re delighted to have secured this site in Tredegar as we begin the process of bringing new high quality homes to the town, helping to meet the various housing needs of local people in the area.

“Our vision for the development is one that emphasises a sense of place, green spaces, and good travel connections, which we believe ticks all the boxes for local families looking for a quality home.

“We look forward to bringing our proposals to the Council and people in Tredegar so we can constructively work to deliver the best development possible for local people and leave a positive, lasting legacy.”
