Digital high street app set to unite Cardiff’s independent retailers

Cardiff’s independent retailers are getting the chance to “access a thriving online audience” thanks to the launch of a new digital high street app across the city.

NearMeNow, which is aiming to revitalise the UK’s ailing high street, is set to offer the capital’s traders access to a complete digital toolkit from this month.

The innovative app technology, which helps retailers digitally promote, advertise, and connect with customers, will be launched as part of the Join the High Street Revolution campaign.

Its launch comes as NearMeNow joins forces with FOR Cardiff, with the combined aim of supporting growth across Cardiff city centre and promoting the success of its independent retailers.

Thanks to the app, traders throughout Cardiff’s thriving independents will be able to push their traditional shop front advertising into the wider community.

Whilst FOR Cardiff have secured the use of the app for their members, the app is available to all independents across the city and will be available in other towns and cities nationwide in the New Year. This cost-effective solution will provide access to a one-off daily advert for just 99p and unlimited use of the app for just £199.99 for the entire year, with the app’s flexibility allowing traders to schedule, edit, and duplicate adverts online for maximum exposure.

At the touch of a button, NearMeNow will notify users of offers and deals available locally, when new stock has arrived, if a salon has a free appointment, or a restaurant a free table. It also provides two-way instant messaging between customer and high street business, which can be used as a small business food order and delivery mechanism, removing the need to pay expensive commission on other platforms, as well as giving shoppers the ability to complete financial transactions to secure goods and services.

NearMeNow has already proved a success among Cowbridge’s flourishing independent retailers, after the app was officially trialled in the town earlier this year. Thanks to the dedication of founder Victoria Mann and her team, Cowbridge officially became the UK’s first digital high street with traders uniting to promote independent shopping and its benefits.

Now Miss Mann believes this success can be replicated among the Welsh capital’s thriving independent business community.

    Victoria said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to be working with FOR Cardiff to launch our digital high street app in Wales’s capital. We really feel it can have such a positive impact across the capital, which is renowned for its bustling arcades and independent traders.

“The launch also coincides with Cardiff’s City of Arcades campaign, which has seen shoppers vote for their favourite retailers across our brilliant capital. We hope that initiatives such as this, combined with our app, can continue to highlight the far-reaching benefits of shopping on the local high street.

“We also hope that our launch will help to highlight the unique independents on offer to the thousands of students in Cardiff and the fantastic discounts and deals available to them, whilst also reigniting a passion for local shopping among the capital’s residents.

“We believe that our app can have significant benefits FOR Cardiff’s independent traders by providing them with access to a fantastic digital toolkit, cost-effective advertising solutions, and uniting them with a community of independents.

“FOR Cardiff is recognised as being one of the most successful Business Improvement Districts in the UK and we hope that our joint initiative will demonstrate what can be achieved by promoting independent high street shopping to its fullest potential.

“If you’d like to see NearMeNow transform your High Street, we’re currently scheduling our roll-out for 2019 and would love to hear from you. Send an email to [email protected].”
