One of Wales’s leading environmental charities is hosting a ‘Paws and Pick’ dog friendly litter pick in Bute Park, Cardiff, on Saturday 9 April 10.00am – 12.00pm.

‘Paws and Pick’ is one of this year’s 300 clean-up events taking place across Wales between 25 March – 10 April, as part of this year’s Spring Clean Cymru. Keep Wales Tidy is calling on individuals, households and schools to clean-up the streets, parks or beaches on their doorstep.

At the dog friendly litter pick event, the charity will also be promoting their dog fouling campaign and giving away doggy treats, dog poo bags and temporary paw print tattoos. There’ll also be plenty of photo opportunities with a dog photo board and selfie frames.

Keep Wales Tidy has sponsored a Snoopy Sculpture as part of Dog’s Trust’s ‘A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy’ free public art trail that’s pawing its way across Cardiff, Caerphilly and Porthcawl between 8 April and 5 June 2022.

Keep Wales Tidy’s Snoopy Sculpture is near the Summerhouse Café in Bute Park where the ‘Paws and Pick’ event will take place from 10.00am on Saturday 9 April. All litter picking equipment will be available to borrow for free on the day. Please bring your own gloves and wear sensible shoes.

Keep Wales Tidy Chief Executive Lesley Jones said:

“Since the start of the pandemic our outdoor spaces have mattered to us more than ever before. They have been a sanctuary during challenging times. “

“Yet, litter still blights our green spaces, streets and beaches across Wales, not only costing us millions to remove but sadly harming our local wildlife as well. “

“We encourage everyone across Wales to get involved with our Spring Clean Cymru campaign this year and pledge to pick up a bag or more of litter. We know that Taking part outdoors is good for our health and our environment. Together we can make a big difference”.

Spring Clean Cymru is also part of this year’s Great British Spring Clean. Volunteers are being asked to pledge how many bags they will collect and how many minutes they will spend cleaning up their local area.
