Two charities providing key support to the people of North East Wales are set to receive donations from a Flintshire manufacturer.
A contribution of £1,000 has been made to both the region’s Mind and the Nightingale House Hospice by Synthite, a Mold-based chemical plant.
This year marks the third donation Synthite has made to North East Wales Mind and the fifth for Nightingale House Hospice.
North East Wales Mind provides services to help people from Wrexham and Flintshire with their mental health, offering activities such as talking therapies, wellbeing walks, social drop-ins, mindfulness, and yoga.
Synthite’s donation will go towards the day-to-day running of the Wellbeing Centre, which provides counselling and wellbeing coaching.
Hayley Fisher, North East Wales Mind business development and fundraising lead, said: “It’s vital for us to have a strong main hub in Mold as it further strengthens our ties to the wider region, which is why we really value our relationships with businesses from the local community.
“A huge thank you to Synthite as these donations directly help us to empower people to seek support for their mental health and to create a safe environment where people can feel heard.”
Wrexham-based Nightingale House Hospice provides specialist palliative care services for those who are living with a life-limiting illness, as well as holistic activities for family members.
It also runs day services for outpatients, which include music and art therapy, mindfulness, and counselling, with the aim to optimise symptom control and quality of life.
Synthite’s donation has the potential to fund a range of resources and amenities, from a child bereavement support programme for children and young people, to the cost of insuring a hospice ambulance for a year.

“Synthite’s continued support means a great deal and its contribution always has a positive impact on what services we can offer as a charity.”
The donations form part of Synthite’s £2,000 allocation from parent company Tennants Consolidated Ltd to help causes of their choice within the local community.

“Both charities do so much good in the region, from helping people struggling with their mental health to providing specialist palliative care services.

Synthite has operated from Alyn Works on Denbigh Road in Mold since the 1950s and employs 120 people.
