A 49-year-old man has been sentenced after sexually assaulting an on-duty police officer.
Jason Fen Hender, of Ger Y Winllan, Llangefni, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates Court on Monday 7 September charged with sexual assault and possession of cocaine.
On 5 September, two officers were on patrol in Llangefni when they came across an altercation in the street, putting other members of the public at risk.
The officers de-escalated the situation, but Hender then assaulted one of the officers.
He was arrested and found to be in possession of cocaine.
He admitted the offences and was sentenced to 30 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.
He was also added to the sex offenders register and must register with police for 10 years.
District Support Sergeant Matt Bentley said: “This was a humiliating and degrading experience for the officer who was trying to protect members of the community.
“This matter was dealt with quickly and Hender was put in front of the courts in just two days.
“This should send a clear message that violence against women and girls will not be tolerated. This kind of behaviour will be challenged and will not be accepted.
“We continue to encourage any victim of sexual offences to come forward. We are here to listen, and we will take robust action to bring perpetrators to justice.”
