Drivers using the A55 in North Wales are being warned about overnight closures and contraflow systems at the Conwy Tunnel next week while essential maintenance work takes place.

Traffic Wales has confirmed that a series of night time restrictions will affect the tunnel between Monday, March 9 and Sunday, March 15.

From Monday, March 9 until Friday, March 13, the westbound carriageway will be closed between 7pm and 7am. During these hours, a contraflow system will operate through the tunnel using the eastbound carriageway.

The traffic arrangement will then switch for the remainder of the works. From Friday, March 13 until Sunday, March 15, the eastbound carriageway will close overnight between 7pm and 7am, with traffic diverted through a contraflow using the westbound side of the tunnel.

Traffic Wales has also confirmed there will be a 3.2 metre width restriction in place during the works.

Motorists are being advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time for travel while the overnight maintenance work is carried out.
