Electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 Prototype – A Look Under the Hood

Electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 Prototype

Ford Performance has launched its much-hyped first fully electric dragster prototype, and it’s received a very warm welcome. The all-electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 has impressed ahead of its debut and looks set to take the dragster market by storm.

Drag racing has always been synonymous with being cool since the days of Grease lightning, and it’s an industry that has seen a rapid rise. It has appeared in a number of huge Hollywood movies over the last decade or so. The likes of the Fast and Furious series has done a lot to shine a light on what is sometimes regarded as a mischievous sport.

This type of motor racing has its traces in the iGaming industry as well, where we see tons of themed and branded slot games. If you check a NetBet casino review, you’ll see that they have more than 2,000 online slots available for players. One popular title in their racing slots category is the drag racing Speed Heroes game by Red Rake Gaming. This slot can also be found at 888casino, Casumo and others.

But perhaps the biggest influence can be found in video games with titles like Forza Horizon. The game provides players the chance to take part in street racing events and challenges them to build the best possible engines.

Of course, these engines are not electric though. So, with times changing, could electric cars be cool too? The answer is yes.

The likes of BMW and Jaguar have branched out into the all-electric market and have received a decent reception. However, much has been said about the lack of ‘je ne sais quoi’. There has been something missing. Aston Martin looked to be stepping up to fill the gap, but the brakes have been put on plans for their electric plant. It should be noted that the All-electric Ford Mustang is purpose-built for drag racing.

So, what does the Ford Mustang offer? This car has both style and sustenance. To look at, you don’t automatically realise that it’s electric which with most other brands you do. It looks like an ultra-modern slick Mustang – which is exactly what the people wanted.

In recent private testing, the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype was said to have raced a quarter of a mile in only 8.27 seconds. It managed to reach a peak of 1,502-wheel horsepower at that time too. To put that into context, it outpowers the 2021 Mustang GT V8 engine three times over. This is an impressive machine.

What really sets this car apart from others is the attention to detail. Ford partnered with several specialist collaborators to nail extra features. They teamed up with Cascadia Motion to power their beast. There are four motors in total spinning at speeds of up to 10,000rpm. That is an incredible number. Furthermore, the engines can operate up to a maximum capacity output of 350kw per motor which offers some serious power.

On top of that, Ford Performance enlisted the help of AEM-EV to develop a control system. The advanced system features many unique qualities and a control algorithm that is tailored to the Cobra Jet 1400.

The purpose-built Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 has really set a marker for what drag racing could look like a few years down the line. Its slick design matched with the best in class technology features makes this machine one to watch for the future. Now that giants Ford Performance have their prototype on the market, we’re sure that others will soon follow suit. But don’t expect Ford Performance to take their foot off the gas, or should we say pedal?
