Swansea Bay is bursting with colour and character this autumn. From vibrant arts festivals to family-friendly Halloween events, the season is packed with things to see and do. Whether you are planning a half-term break, a long weekend escape, or a spontaneous getaway, there is plenty to discover in the city and along the bay.

    Swansea Arts Weekend: 11–12 October

Swansea’s most creative weekend is back, transforming the city centre into a lively hub of art, performance, and community celebration. Across two days, visitors can enjoy live music, exhibitions, workshops, and pop-up performances taking place in streets and venues throughout Swansea.

Highlights include family-friendly activities, street entertainment, interactive workshops, and exhibitions showcasing the work of both local and guest artists. With thought-provoking talks and surprise performances popping up in unexpected corners, Swansea Arts Weekend is a true celebration of the city’s cultural spirit.

    The Spooky Castle: 25 October

Oystermouth Castle takes on a lighter side of Halloween fun with The Spooky Castle. Perfect for younger children, expect silly warriors, magic wands, storytelling witches, and even Dave the Dragon. Fancy dress is encouraged, with the promise of giggles rather than scares.

Spooks in the City: 25 October

The city centre will be transformed into a Halloween haven for Spooks in the City. Families can look forward to themed entertainment, face painting, and live performances from local dance schools. Dress up, dive into the festivities, and enjoy a day of frightful fun in the heart of Swansea.

The Dark Side of Oystermouth Castle: 31 October

For those who prefer something a little spookier, The Dark Side of Oystermouth Castle returns on Halloween night. This after-dark experience brings the castle’s chilling past to life with true tales of medieval mischief and mysterious happenings. Expect an atmospheric evening full of goosebumps and ghostly surprises.

    Plan your visit

With its mix of culture, family entertainment, and seasonal celebrations, Swansea Bay is the perfect place to enjoy an autumn escape. Whether you are drawn to art and performance, or ready to embrace the spooky season, Swansea has something for everyone this autumn.
