Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of The Graylyns Residential Home near Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

Situated in a rural location just outside the town of Haverfordwest, The Graylyns Residential Home is registered to provide residential dementia and respite care to up to 15 residents.

The home has been owned and operated by husband and wife, Graham and Lynne Jones, and their son, Andrew. The couple originally opened the home in 1998, and recently decided to sell as part of their retirement planning.

Following a confidential sales process with Oliver McCarthy at Christie & Co, and funding sourced through Gary Boyce at Christie Finance, it has been sold to Lina Chirandura, who owns another care home and is planning to expand her portfolio in Wales.

Lynne Jones, former owner of The Graylyns Residential Home, comments, “Graham and I have spent 26 wonderful years with our outstanding and exceptional care teams getting to know every person who has graced us with their time, memories, experiences, and love. I say with pride we achieved the goal we set ourselves, we made a loving, caring and empathic home-from-home.

“For the last several months we have worked tirelessly to find the right people to take The Graylyns into its next exciting chapter and we strongly believe we have achieved this. We honestly believe that this new ownership will bring in a new vein of positivity, whilst still adhering to the home’s promise of 26 years ago. Nothing will change to the daily running of the home. Andrew will remain as Manager, and all of our amazing and compassionate care team will remain in post. More importantly, our residents and their families will still have their ‘forever home’.

“Thank you to all those who have come into our lives over the last 26 years – your unwavering support has been amazing, and I know this level of support and understanding will continue as Graham and I set off into our retirement. We are infinitely grateful for the last 26 years and we look on with excitement for the next 26 years for The Graylyns Residential Home.”

Oliver McCarthy, Director – Care at Christie & Co, comments, “I’m so pleased to have sold this amazing care home to an outstanding operator that I’m sure will continue the brilliant care that Lynne, Graham, and Andrew have provided over the last 26 years. Buyer appetite for trading care homes has never been stronger in South Wales, we expect to see this continue throughout the year.”

Gary Boyce, Director at Christie Finance, comments, “Lina has a strong background in the care sector, where she worked with family members to run successful children and adult service businesses for several years. Despite this, limited appetite to support the purchase was shown by mainstream banks due to this being her first purchase and because the bedroom numbers at The Graylyns did not meet lending criteria. However, through our network of lenders and with knowledge of what exists beyond the high street, we successfully secured funding on competitive terms, with a bank keen to support her exciting plans for the business. We look forward to seeing Lina succeed at The Graylyns.”

The Graylyns Residential Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
