Up to £3,000 is available to businesses of all sizes on Anglesey to help them make more use of Welsh from day-to-day. The aim is to strengthen business engagement with local customers and the community, as well as give visitors a unique Welsh experience.

As part of the Arfor scheme, and led by Menter Môn the funding is available to enable companies to make the language more visible in their operations. But, with only a few weeks left to apply the message is clear – there’s no time to lose to apply for the support. It’s seen as an opportunity for local businesses to take advantage of the financial support which can benefit them and a way to promote the Welsh language on the island.

Elen Hughes, Menter Môn’s Director of Community Projects, said: “We’re keen to spread the message as widely as possible about the grant available – and to encourage companies of all sizes to contact us as soon as possible to apply, regardless of their language ability.

“Our experience and evidence shows that small changes such as creating bilingual signage, creating marketing materials and offering customer service in English and Welsh can really give businesses a boost and is something which is welcomed by customers.”

One business that has already taken advantage is Physio Môn. Business owner Esther Cadogan said: “We’re so grateful to Menter Mon for helping us secure funding to grow our business whilst promoting the Welsh Language. Having lived on Anglesey all my life it’s so important for me that our business is visible and accessible to all in their first language.

Menter Môn wants to encourage businesses to apply before the 31st October deadline to access financial support. More information and how to apply, is available on the Menter Môn website. Support Welsh Language Use in Business on Anglesey.
