The countdown is on to when colourful Snoopy sculptures put their best paw forward and take to the streets of Cardiff, Porthcawl and Caerphilly.
The free public art trail, A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy, will see 40 giant Snoopy sculptures on display along with 75 smaller Snoopy sculptures designed by schools across South Wales from 8 April to 5 June.
From ‘A Dog’s Dream’ at City Hall and ‘Salty Old Sea Dog’ at Cardiff Bay Barrage Play Area to ‘Bark Side of the Moon’ at Thompson Park, ‘Daffodog’ in Caerphilly town centre and ‘Snoopy Dog Vinci’ in Station Hill, Porthcawl, all the spectacular sculptures are guaranteed to raise lots of smiles, as well as funds for Dogs Trust, which finds forever homes for dogs from its rehoming centres in Bridgend and Cardiff.
Rebecca Staden, Project Manager of A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy, said:
“This is the first ever Snoopy sculpture art trail to be held in the UK so with just four weeks to go before the sculptures are finally unveiled, it’s really exciting.
“The trail is a real feel-good event which has already brought communities together with schools designing the smaller Snoopy sculptures, businesses getting on board as sponsors and artists having the chance to showcase their work.
“We hope that between 8 April and 5 June thousands of people will come on walkies with us and enjoy the trail.”
A Dog’s Trail app will be launched to help people sniff out each sculpture and take advantage of special offers from businesses along the trail. For the duration of the trail there will also be a shop at Mermaid Quay selling everything from Snoopy plush toys and tote bags to dog collar charms and doggie accessories. When the trail ends, the sculptures will be auctioned at a special event to support the work of Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity.

“Every year Dogs Trust finds homes for thousands of dogs who have found themselves looking for new homes for a range of reasons. Sometimes illness in the family, or a change in working hours or accommodation means owners have to make the heart-breaking decision to hand their beloved dog over to Dogs Trust.
“From the moment they walk through the doors at one of Dogs Trust’s rehoming centres every dog is given everything they need from toys and treats to training and lots of TLC, until they find a new family of their own. But that is only possible with the support of the dog-loving public.
“We hope this fantastic trail will bring joy to people, and their dogs, as well as raise funds for Dogs Trust so it can continue to care for and ultimately find homes for dogs in need.”
