FOR Cardiff, the Business Improvement District (BID) for Wales’ capital city, has launched a public recruitment process to appoint up to three new Board Directors.

The appointments are timed to coincide with the development of FOR Cardiff’s next five-year business plan, which will shape the organisation’s strategy from 2026 to 2031.

This marks the first time that FOR Cardiff has opened Board appointments to public application, as part of its commitment to inclusive governance, and evolving city priorities around ESG, inclusion and place-based economic development.

Carolyn Brownell, Executive Director at FOR Cardiff, said: “This is a valuable opportunity for individuals who care about Cardiff’s future to contribute to the long-term vision for the city centre. The new Board Directors will help guide key decisions that shape Cardiff’s growth, identity and resilience.

“This process is about finding the right people, not just the most senior. FOR Cardiff is actively looking for a range of voices and experiences to ensure the Board reflects the business and community interests it represents.”

FOR Cardiff is seeking individuals who bring skills or experience that address current Board gaps – such as finance or audit, independent business or SME leadership, data and insights, HR and organisational development, or sustainability and social value. Applicants may come from any sector, are not required to be from a FOR Cardiff member business – and those in early or mid-career leadership roles are encouraged to apply.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate strategic thinking, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach to governance. Support and induction will be provided to successful applicants, and prior board experience is not required.

Applications should be sent to [email protected] by the 30th January 2026; shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview in early February. Successful applicants will then begin an induction programme ahead of formally joining the FOR Cardiff Board.
