Dow Schofield Watts (DSW) is strengthening its Cardiff-based corporate finance team with the appointment of Ellis Jenkins, the former Cardiff Rugby (previously “Cardiff Blues”) and Wales Rugby Union captain, who has been appointed as Corporate Relations Lead.

Ellis recently retired from a successful career in elite rugby, having represented Wales on the world stage against some of the sport’s greatest teams, including the New Zealand All Blacks and South Africa, often performing in front of 75,000 people at the Principality Stadium. Ellis also studied an Executive MBA at Cardiff University, whilst playing professional rugby. His experience leading at the highest levels of professional sport brings a unique perspective and a strong network, supporting the DSW team in Cardiff as they continue to grow and service their growing client base.

Ellis sat on the Executive Committee for the Welsh Rugby Players Association (WRPA) for eight years, where he played a leading role in regular negotiations with the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), including during some of the sport’s most challenging periods.

In addition to Ellis’s appointment, DSW is pleased to announce the promotion of Ben Nix to Associate. Since joining the team, Ben has delivered exceptional value for clients and will continue to lead the management of live deals on both the buy and sell side across a wide range of sectors. Recent highlights include advising on Euro Commercials’ acquisition of CWC Group, creating a £150m revenue business.

Koo Aseeley, Partner in the corporate finance team at Dow Schofield Watts in Cardiff, said: “We’re excited about the continued growth of the Cardiff team. Ellis brings outstanding leadership experience, an ambitious mindset and a fantastic network from his time in elite sport. We’re looking forward to the value he’ll bring to our clients and team.

“Ben’s promotion to Associate is thoroughly well deserved. He’s been delivering exceptional results, and it’s great to see his hard work recognised. The team continues to build momentum, and we’re excited to support more clients across the UK as we grow.”

Ellis Jenkins, Corporate Relations Lead at Dow Schofield Watts, said: “After taking time to reflect on 15 years of professional rugby and consider my next steps, I’m excited to begin a new chapter in my career with DSW Cardiff.

“I’m joining a dynamic team that is growing rapidly across Wales and the South West, and I’m confident that my experience of problem solving in high pressure sporting situations will serve me well in the fast-paced world of corporate finance.”

These changes mark an exciting new phase for DSW’s Cardiff office, reflecting its commitment to growth, talent development, and providing exceptional support to clients across the region.
