Drivers are being warned of a full weekend closure on the M48 as essential bridge maintenance works get under way.

Traffic Wales has confirmed that the M48 eastbound between Junction 2 at Newhouse Roundabout and Junction 1 at Aust will be closed overnight from Friday, February 27 through to Sunday, March 2.

The closure will be in place each night between 8pm and 6am, with the full weekend shutdown allowing engineers to carry out bridge maintenance works safely.

A signed diversion route will be in place while the works are carried out, and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys, particularly if travelling towards the Severn crossings.

Traffic Wales is urging drivers to plan ahead and check for the latest updates before setting off.
