Pembrokeshire County Council is delighted to have reached an agreement with Neyland Town Council for funding support for the town’s library.

Neyland Town Council has agreed to a five-year funding agreement to support the continued professional operation of the library, with opening hours unchanged.

Neyland Library was opened in June 2021 and has 13 hours a week of staffed opening, but customers can use unstaffed access anytime from 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, all year round.

Cllr Rhys Sinnett, the Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services, said: “We are most grateful to the Town Council for the support, which is a great news story for the people of Neyland and library staff.

“This funding has removed the need for Pembrokeshire County Council to consult with local people on potentially reducing opening hours.

“We look forward to the people of Neyland continuing to use and enjoy their fantastic library facilities over the coming years.”

The Mayor Neyland, Cllr Peter Hay, said: “Neyland Town Council unanimously resolved to retain the current level of Library Services within Neyland by part-funding the Library alongside Pembrokeshire County Council.

“Councillors see the Library as a town asset that they would not wish to lose. The Library is a centre and a hub for a wide age range, offering much more than just books.”

Neyland Library is located at Neyland Community Hub, John Street.

    The staffed opening hours are:

    Tuesday 10am-1pm, 2pm-4pm.

    Friday 10am- 1pm, 2pm-4pm.

    Saturday 10am-1pm.
