Future-proofing work at High Street Car Park in Aberdare

RCT Council is giving advanced notice of upcoming works at High Street Car Park in Aberdare – which will operate with a limited capacity from September 27 while the Council delivers a significant improvement scheme.

The car park, located next to St Elvan’s Church in the town centre, will benefit from a series of future-proofing works. These include resurfacing of the entire car park area, drainage works, and pedestrian access improvements – including the renewal of the access ramp along with the ticket machine areas.

The scheme will be delivered in phases, working within one section of the car park at a time. This will allow the car park to remain open, however, the number of available spaces will be very limited – and motorists are asked to park elsewhere when it is possible during the scheme.

Within the town centre, alternative long-stay parking is available at the following car parks: Rock Grounds, Nant Row, Crown Buildings and the Ynys. Short-stay parking, up to four hours, is available at Library Square, Green Street and Duke Street car parks.

The High Street Car Park works will begin from Monday, September 27, and will last approximately six weeks. They are intended to deliver maintenance works, as well as improving the safety and accessibility of the car park.

Improving its town centres remains a priority for the Council, which continues to deliver the Town Centre Maintenance Grant to help landlords and business owners improve their shop fronts – while Aberdare is also one of the six town centres across the County Borough to have free public-access WiFi installed.

The Council would like to thank the community and visitors to the town centre for their cooperation in advance of its upcoming work at High Street Car Park.
