Genesis Biosciences, a Welsh Biosciences company which has been pioneering the innovation of effective natural eco-benign cleaning products all over the world, has just been double nominated as finalists for the 2018 Cardiff Business Awards.

Each year since 2014, the Cardiff Business Awards celebrate the best businesses in Cardiff and the vast potential that exists within the capital city of Wales. This year, a total of 56 firms and individuals are in contention for the awards that span 16 categories.

Genesis Biosciences has been shortlisted in both the “Green Business of the Year” and “Innovation Business of the Year” categories.

The company is a world leader in beneficial bacteria fermentation and is the first company to develop, manufacture and offer both microbial and antimicrobial products for the Facilities Management, Industrial & Institutional, Water & Wastewater Treatment and Marine industries.

Based on discoveries made at its research laboratory in Cardiff, Genesis creates microbial technologies for use in a wide range of waste remediation, bio-augmentation and cleaning applications as well as innovative solutions for the safe and natural eradication of harmful bacteria using plant oils, essential oils and green chemistry.  Genesis Biosciences the only company with a natural active ingredient for use in vapour-phase disinfection being registered under the European Biocidal Regulations.

Ongoing reinvestment in research and development ensure Genesis remain at the forefront of the industry; continually creating leading, innovative, game-changing products and solutions.

In a market which is dominated by harsh and sometimes dangerous chemical cleaners, Genesis are developing products that are putting end-user safety, social responsibility and environmental considerations first, and that belief is at the heart of the company’s culture.

In 2017 Genesis Biosciences launched its Eco-benign® probiotic cleaning products for professional users. Use of probiotic technology in commercial cleaning enhances cleaning longevity, reduces labour costs, preserves valuable assets and provides a positive effect on the environment. Genesis Biosciences’ Microbial technology is now used worldwide to treat industrial effluents, prevent biofouling and degrade environmental contaminants.

Genesis Biosciences General Manager, Dr Emma Saunders, said:

“We are delighted to be selected as finalists for the both the Green and Innovation Business of the Year category. Genesis Biosciences are extremely proud of the disruptive technology innovations which are developed in our Cardiff laboratories.”

“The recognition obtained from this nomination will drive our scientists to develop and deliver further industry-leading solutions which have a direct impact in creating a cleaner and safer world which works with nature, not against it.”

In 2018, Genesis Biosciences are seeking to establish further sales channels for the product range across Europe as well as establish further direct partnerships with national and global Facility Management companies and leisure and hospitality businesses.

Winners of their retrospective categories will be announced at an exclusive awards ceremony on the 15thJune at City Hall. To see the full list of award nominees and read more about the 2018 Cardiff Business Awards, see here.
