One of the world’s largest shared singing events is coming to Wales, as Young Voices partners with Kilimanjaro Live to launch the Land of Song Festival at the Principality Stadium in May 2027.

The two day celebration will bring together choirs from across the globe for what is set to be a landmark moment in Welsh cultural history. Organisers are calling on all choirs, no matter how big or small, to take part in the groundbreaking choral experience at the iconic Cardiff stadium.

Two events. One festival. One shared voice.

The Land of Song Festival will feature two major participatory concerts, uniting generations through music.

The first event, Young Voices Cymru, will see 15,000 primary school children from across Wales and beyond come together to sing in Cardiff. Founded in Wales in 1996, Young Voices has grown into the largest children’s choir in the world, filling major arenas across the UK each year.

In 2026, the organisation celebrates its 30th anniversary, and in 2027 it will reconnect with its Welsh roots by staging its first ever YV Cymru concert at Principality Stadium.

Children will perform a wide mix of music, including folk, pop, rock, global songs and tracks from films and musicals. The repertoire will feature traditional Welsh favourites such as Calon Lân and Suo Gân, alongside Young Voices medleys and favourites including Power in Me!

The second event, Côr World Choir, marks the return of the World Choir for the first time in more than 30 years. This massed choir gathering will unite over 15,000 adult singers from Wales, the UK and around the world.

Community choirs and lifelong choristers will perform a blend of contemporary and traditional Welsh music, classic choral pieces, folk, pop and songs from film and stage. The programme will include Welsh favourites such as Yma o Hyd and Myfanwy, alongside classics including Carl Orff’s O Fortuna.

Together, the two concerts form a festival designed to bring voices of all ages together in one shared celebration of singing.

Ben Lewis, CEO of Young Voices said: “Launching the Land of Song Festival at Principality Stadium in May 2027 is a landmark moment for Young Voices and for choral music in the UK. Wales’ world-renowned singing tradition, combined with the return of the Côr World Choir for the first time in over 30 years, gives this event a powerful sense of legacy and future purpose. This festival will celebrate the next generation of young voices in one of the world’s greatest stadiums.”

The event is being delivered through a partnership between Welsh Government, Cardiff Council, Principality Stadium, Young Voices Cymru, Côr World Choir and Kilimanjaro Live.

Minister for Culture, Jack Sargeant, said: “Wales has always been the land of song, and there is no better way to celebrate our rich musical heritage than by bringing together voices from across the globe in one of the world’s largest shared singing events. This Land of Song Festival will showcase the very best of Welsh culture on an international stage with tens of thousands expected to join in and visit us in Cardiff.

“This is a proud moment for Wales – not only will we welcome the world to experience our legendary choral tradition, but we will also deliver a significant boost to our economy and put Cymru firmly on the map as a world-class destination for music and culture. I encourage choirs of all sizes to register and be part of this historic celebration.”
