Global recruitment company Gi Group which has had a long standing presence in the City, recently moved offices to larger premises in readiness to help the luxury car-maker staff the new factory.

Gi Group has recently moved, taking more space at the Cardiff Bay Business Centre where its team of five is planned to grow in years to come.

Keith Ogilvie, Gi Group Branch Manager said the plan was to expand Gi Group’s presence in Wales further, as the company sees huge potential in the area.

“We have supported companies in South Wales with their recruitment needs for a number of years, however our work with Aston Martin in recruiting for the new factory has encouraged us to move to bigger premises to meet increased demand for talented and skilled candidates” he said.

“We have been delighted with the quality and skills of the workforce we are recruiting for Aston Martin.”

The pace of growth here was another factor. “Cardiff is of course among the top five fastest growing cities outside of London and the Welsh economy is strong. The removal of the tolls on the Prince of Wales Bridge can only help in this regard.”

Cardiff Bay Business Centre, owned and run by Tata Steel subsidiary UK Steel Enterprise, was chosen for its excellent location and facilities. “CBBC is perfectly located for us. It is convenient for candidates to visit and also close to motorway and rail links,” he added.

Glyn Thomas, UK Steel Enterprise Manager in Wales said: “We are delighted that Gi Group has moved into the Cardiff Bay Business Centre. They have ambitions to expand and I am sure with our flexible approach, we will be able to accommodate their needs.”

CBBC is home to a wide range of businesses and is one of the most popular locations in South Wales. The centre has a selection of bespoke buildings which cater for many requirements, clerical and industrial. £1 million was recently spent on a refurbishment and upgrade of facilities.

Headquartered in Milan, Gi Group is one of the world’s leading recruitment agencies, with offices in 53 countries. In the UK it has over 32 branches as well as onsite locations with plans to further increase its footprint in the UK & Ireland.

“We are aiming to greatly increase our client base in Wales and having larger, better equipped premises from which to do this is the first step.” added Mr Ogilvie.

He said growth was expected to come in the technical and ‘white collar’ sectors. “We are very excited about the opportunities for candidates here in Wales and are looking forward to increasing our presence here,” he added.
