Tickets are now on sale for the 2026 Gower Walking Festival, with organisers promising more than 30 guided walks showcasing some of the most spectacular scenery, history and wildlife in Wales.
The annual festival, which celebrates the unique landscape and heritage of the Gower Peninsula, will take place from Saturday, September 5, to Sunday, September 13.
Now in its 22nd year, the festival aims to encourage people to explore Gower while enjoying the many physical and mental health benefits of walking. Organisers have once again created a varied programme designed to appeal to walkers of all abilities, with routes ranging from coastal strolls to more challenging hikes.

The 2026 programme features more than 30 guided walks in and around the Gower Peninsula, offering participants the opportunity to discover the area’s coastline, wildlife, industrial heritage and lesser-known locations.
Festival organisers are hoping to attract up to 500 participants this year, driven by growing interest from both local residents and visitors keen to experience more of Gower beyond its best-known beaches and landmarks.
The continued popularity of staycations, increasing awareness of the health benefits of walking and demand for a wider range of outdoor activities are all expected to contribute to strong attendance.
Linda Welch, chair of the Gower Walking Festival organising committee, said: “As always, we will celebrate all of Gower, and its surrounding area, with walks along the seafront to more ‘off the beaten track’ hikes. You’ll be able to discover the coastlines, flora and fauna, industrial history and be introduced to people from the past who helped to put Swansea on the map!
“New walks have been introduced, including one for your vocal chords, not just your boots, as you discover native woodland, as well as a beach clean, which presents a chance for everybody to show gratitude for all Gower offers us.
“So our message is boot up, revisit beaches, see Gower from a different perspective and experience it like never before.”
Among the new additions to this year’s programme are unique themed walks, including an event focused on singing and vocal participation while exploring native woodland, alongside a beach clean designed to help participants give something back to the environment.
The festival is organised by a dedicated team of volunteers who aim to showcase the very best of Gower over nine days of walking and discovery.
Widely regarded as one of Wales’ premier walking events, the festival continues to highlight why Gower remains one of the country’s most treasured landscapes, attracting visitors from across Wales and beyond.
