A large number of parks and green spaces across the county borough of Neath Port Talbot have once again reached the high standards required to fly the coveted Keep Wales Tidy Green Flag.

The environmental charity has revealed the sites across Wales which have won the Green Flag and Green Flag Community awards including the following in Neath Port Talbot :

    •    Margam Country Park (Full Award)
    •    Swansea Bay University Campus Grounds (Full Award)
    •    Taibach Memorial Park (Full Award)
    •    Victoria Gardens (Full Award)
    •    Amman Valley Trotting Club (Community Award)
    •    Cilybebyll Community Growers (Community Award)
    •    Cwmafan Community Orchard (Community Award)
    •    Glantawe Riverside Park (Community Award)
    •    Vivian Park Nature Garden (Community Award)
    •    The Lane Community Garden (Community Award)

Cllr Cen Phillips, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Nature, Tourism and Wellbeing said: “These awards mean the council’s parks and community green spaces have met high quality standards across categories including environmental efforts, excellent visitor facilities and community involvement.

“This is all thanks to a great team effort by our dedicated staff and passionate volunteers from our local communities.

“We are pleased to continue working alongside Keep Wales Tidy and the many volunteers across Neath Port Talbot to ensure our parks and green spaces are looked after for now and for the future.”
Now in its third decade, the Green Flag Award recognises well-managed parks and green spaces in 20 countries around the world.

Lucy Prisk, Green Flag Coordinator for Keep Wales Tidy said:  “We’re thrilled to see 92 green spaces in Wales achieving the prestigious Green Flag status, which is testament to the dedication and hard work of hundreds of staff and volunteers.

“Quality green spaces play a vital role in the physical and mental well-being of people across Wales, and to be recognised as among the best in the world is a huge achievement – Congratulations!”
