Hay Festival has unveiled the programme for its Winter Weekend 2025, promising five days of literature, music, comedy and debate in the heart of Hay-on-Wye from 26–30 November.

Taking place in the grounds of Hay Castle, more than 80 guests are set to appear, including political activist Maria Alyokhina, Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page, actors Jonathan Pryce and Raymond Blanc, Fun Lovin’ Criminals frontman Huey Morgan, and celebrated authors Sebastian Faulks, Oyinkan Braithwaite, Mick Herron, Natalie Haynes and Jung Chang.

Other highlights include appearances from lexicographer Susie Dent, comedians Marcus Brigstocke, Rachel Parris and Mark Watson, politicians Nick Clegg, Vince Cable and Kim Leadbeater, historian David Olusoga, journalist Lyse Doucet and artist Charlie Mackesy.

Events will explore themes from the role of storytelling in a changing world to the impacts of big tech, democracy and the environment. Alongside headline talks, the programme features candle-lit readings, workshops, festive performances and pop-up music around town.

The annual Christmas lights switch-on will add to the festive atmosphere on Friday 28 November. A closing night concert will be led by acoustic trio Thrill Collins.

This year also sees the launch of a free Schools Programme, supported by the Hodge Foundation, giving primary school pupils from across Wales access to the festival.

Julie Finch, Hay Festival Global CEO, said:
“A new chapter starts now. Here is a programme packed with big ideas and new forms of storytelling to meet the challenges of our times. Hay Festival Winter Weekend offers an escape from the day-to-day, inviting audiences into a space where imaginations can roam and curiosity can thrive. Join us!”

Select events will be livestreamed worldwide through the Festival’s online pass, available now. Tickets go on general sale Friday 26 September at hayfestival.org.
