- Phase protection safeguards against phase imbalance or loss. 3-phase circuit motors are able to function efficiently with balanced or equitable voltages in their 3 live conductors. An imbalance of more than two percent in the phase voltage reduces the service life and efficiency of the motors, and sudden or unexpected loss of any of the phase voltages might damage it further.
