How Gaming Will Change In The Future

Right now we are in a blessed position for gaming and the future of technology. Today we are the most developed and advanced with our technology than ever and will keep improving every day. Gaming is ever-changing and growing; technology is the most important part. This is attributed to the new things being invented or the graphics constantly improving, so over time it will change but how?

    Virtual Reality

Over the last decade or so, VR has been growing and getting even more impressive and the new Meta Quest 3 and the Oculus Rift are the perfect examples of this, it is drastically improving and now the almost mergings of reality are getting scarily accurate. The Meta Quest 3 is the best example of this as it scans your room and allows things to attack around your room or for blocks and buildings to be built where you stand. This is a technological breakthrough that we have been waiting for for years and it feels like this is a good base for the future of gaming. It feels like this is only the start of VR taking over gaming and soon we will be able to play every type of game on a VR headset, you could even be able to use the VR to play online casino games for cash at Boylesports which would bring a whole new experience to an already popular section of online gaming

    Augmented Reality

AR is fairly similar to the previously mentioned VR and some of the Meta Quest 3’s features do venture into augmented reality. However, it is usually done through phones, with one example being Pokemon Go which took the world by storm massively in 2016. It used your camera to show the Pokemon in the real world and this was one of the first examples of this and was massive. In comparison to VR, AR took off faster and was more globally played and accessible quicker, but I believe if you mix VR and AR it would create the perfect gaming experience. This is why I like the Meta Quest 3 so much.

    Free To Play Games

Free To Play games have been around since gaming first started and they are nothing new but recently there has been a massive resurgence and this started with Fortnite, Fortnite became arguably the biggest and most successful game of all time because it started as a free. The in-game purchases made Epic Games a billion-dollar company and led the way for other bigger games and companies to follow suit with one example being Warzone which was a direct rival to Fortnite. I expect that more and more big games become free and push in-game purchases to get as big a market as possible.

    AI in Games

AI has been used for years in games for mainly NPC’s (Non-playable characters) like the ghosts in Pac-Man or background characters in Grand Theft Auto, and this form of AI in games is perfectly fine and makes the most sense for companies. My main issue with AI is the potential taking of other people’s jobs. If we start to use AI for more things in games then when do we draw the line? As a writer, I know the threats of AI on my job and all jobs in a creative field and we only want the best out of the gaming industry. It is already slowly happening in the film industry with a recent film, called Late Night With The Devil, getting negative attention for using AI images and the backlash will, hopefully, stop people from using AI in the future.

We want the gaming industry to progress and get better and we want the protection of the workers that make the games to be the number one priority.
