Swansea’s City Centre retailers are gearing up for the annual Swansea Student Shopping Night, which last year saw businesses take around £400,000 within three hours of trading.

The big discounted shopping event, which is organised by Swansea BID (Business Improvement District) and Quadrant Shopping Centre, goes ahead on Tuesday October 8, between 6pm and 9pm, as new and returning students arrive in Swansea to begin their courses and settle into their accommodation.

The shopping event is held annually, to help students prepare for the beginning of the new academic year and to boost footfall for local trade. Brands and businesses on board this year include H&M, River Island, Top Shop, Debenhams, Popworld, Reverse, Walkabout, and more.

[/aoa]Russell Greenslade, Swansea BID Chief Executive, said: “Our students are integral to the success of our Swansea City Centre, and Swansea Student Shopping Night is one of many ways we continue to engage with students, who contribute an estimated £2 billion to the Welsh economy. This is always one of our most well-attended events which gives a real shot in the arm for our Swansea BID businesses, so we are pleased to see so many of our businesses getting involved by offering special discounts.”

Lisa Hartley, Quadrant Shopping Centre Manager said: “We are pleased to host another student shopping event in the heart of Swansea, to help get the year off to a good start for our students and to give local businesses extra support. We would encourage students to register and to come along on the day to enjoy some unique offers and a great atmosphere.”

Students need to register online to get their free wristband for admission to the event here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/swansea-student-shopping-night-registration-68519185729
