Huawei has launched its first smartwatches running its HarmonyOS operating system, the Huawei smartwatch 3. It is Huawei’s 3rd sole or separate operating system Huawei has used for its smartwatches. Earlier the Huawei watches originally ran Google’s Android Wear (now Wear) before introducing its LiteOS software with more recent devices. Besides the difference in prices Huawei Watch 3 Price is $389 and the earlier GT 2 Pro $249, Huawei Watch 3 has many different features besides some similarities to the earlier versions.

    Different Operating System

Despite the new OS, HarmonyOS, HarmonyOS 2 to bring consumers convenient and smart life experiences that are underpinned by enhanced interaction, independent connectivity, and all-scenario interconnectivity.

The Watch 3 offers a similar set of features to Huawei’s previous wearables. New additions include a redesigned home screen that now consists of a watchOS-style grid of apps rather than a list (though you’re free to switch back to a list if you prefer), and there’s also support for video calling through Huawei’s own MeeTime service. While earlier, GT 2 Pro was run by the Huawei Lite operating system. The Watch 3 Huawei series also comes pre-installed with AppGallery, where users can download third-party apps

    Tracking Apps Difference

For activity tracking, the watch features many of the same sensors as previous models, including heart rate tracking, a SpO2 sensor, and sleep tracking. But new for this version is a temperature sensor.

The company says that the watch 3 supports several different workout methods, ranging from running to climbing, cycling, and swimming.

    Style and Display

While the GT 2 Pro and Watch 3 Pro have completely flat Sapphire crystal glass screens and titanium cases. The standard Watch 3 has curved hardened glass on top of stainless steel. But the new Huawei Watch 3 has offered many different styles that shape the character of its appearance.  The watch has provided many options like sports, classic, and elite versions. Still, more than anything, this is reflected in the straps with which they come: silicone, leather, and stainless steel, respectively.

As far as the display is concerned, there’s a difference in size though, the Watch 3 model featuring a 1.43-inch panel versus 1.39-inches on the GT 2 Pro. That means skinnier bezels, not a bigger watch. Besides that, the Watch 3 features a rotating crown, while the GT 2 Pro sports just a couple of buttons.

Watch 3: Workout and Android and iOS Support

Aside from the Huawei phones, the Watch 3 watch is also supported on Android and iOS devices. But, it may vary on their versions and some of the characteristics also may not be supported. The Android devices that are running on Android 6.0 or above are compatible with this watch. While for iOS users, the device should have iOS 9.0 or above installed. Both these least supported Android and iOS versions are older and there is hardly any device to have these versions installed now when there are Android 12 and iOS 15 trending.

Like other smartwatches, Huawei Watch 3 also comes with various workout modes which encourage the users to be healthy and fit. Here are some of support workout modes of Watch 3 on Android and iOS devices:

    • 19 professional workout modes
    • workout autodetect
    • Workout heart rate monitoring
    • GPS tracking
    • Running courses
    • Smart companion
    • Workout status
    • GPS route back

    Huawei Smartwatch 3 Health Features

The Watch 3 has a complete health monitoring system with over 100 workout modes, skin temperature detection4, fall detection, SOS alert, and much more. Not only that the watch is stored with health monitoring features such as heart rate, SpO2, sleep, and pressure as well.

    Battery Life

There are two modes of battery for the Watch 3 series. The first one is like a standard smartwatch and gets either three or five days of battery. the second one is that you have 14 days if the user turns off the wifi. On the other hand, because of lightweight software, Watch GT 2 Pro can get up to two weeks on a full battery.

    Other Features

While talking about others features, Watch 3 has refresh rates up to 60Hz, which means users will get smoother and more graphic-rich images and animations as compared to earlier  GT 2 Pro.  Watch 3 has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth like the GT 2 Pro – has eSIM support. This enables 4G connections on networks that support it, allows the users to stream music, can answer calls, and see notifications.

The Watch 3  has a dual GPS setup for more accurate tracking when exercising outdoors. So, runners will find this helpful since it allows a more accurate recording of the distance run as well as route mapping. You will also benefit from wireless charging capability with the latest generation wearable device. Well, the user will have an ample amount of RAM and internal storage on the Watch 3 compared to the Watch GT 2 Pro

    Conclusion

Huawei Watch 3 is a promising smartwatch, with more reliable connectivity options and networks such as 4G LTE, a greater battery (depending on use), a better operating system, and much more storage space for music apps. With more RAM and added monitoring functions, display and style make the watch a better package than previous models. Because the bigger screen means bigger resolution, higher pixel density, and a higher refresh rate (60 Hz), all these features make the model better in practically every way compared to other Huawei watches.
