Housing, support and care provider Hafod and the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS), on Wednesday 24 October 2018, have agreed a Fire Safety Local Service Agreement (LSA), the first of its type for each organisation.

The LSA will allow each organisation to target fire risk more effectively and efficiently.

Clear lines of communication have been created, together with a framework that capitalises on the correct use of fire risk assessments and audits to assist Hafod in satisfying its statutory responsibilities, which is a good example of best practise. This then allows SWFRS to target areas of greatest risk with their enforcement activity.

Paul Mantle, Head of Maintenance Services, Investment and Growth at Hafod said:

“We are delighted to agree this LSA with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.  Fire safety is a priority for Hafod and having the support of the SWFRS, assists us in achieving our aim of fire safe homes and places of work for all tenants, residents and staff.”

Group Manager Adrian Moyes, of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said:

“This LSA is a first for us. Hafod have a very positive approach to fire safety compliance and we are pleased to form a partnership with them to drive forward our mutual aim of making people fire safe. We would be pleased to hear from other organisations who may wish to explore similar partnership arrangements.”
