Registrations are now open for this year’s new look Wales Climate Week virtual conference – taking place from Monday 3rd November to Wednesday 5th November.
This year’s three-day virtual event invites stakeholders to join Wales’ biggest climate conversation — exploring how we can unlock the benefits of change. From lower energy bills and greener jobs to healthier communities and a thriving natural world, the aim of the conference is to discuss how we can turn climate action into opportunity.
The virtual conference will provide a national platform for discussion and action – a place where people from all corners of Wales. Stakeholders from industry, public sector bodies and local community organisations, will come together to make a practical plan for Wales for the next five years and beyond.
The virtual conference programme has been fully curated by the Welsh Government and will encompass everything from insightful podcasts and engaging panel discussions to collaborative breakout sessions.
Discussions will focus specifically on how Wales can maximise the socio-economic opportunities that come from change. This also includes focusing on the areas where Wales has the power to lead, specifically with regards to transport, housing and agriculture and land use.
Huw Irranca-Davies, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change said:
“This year’s Wales Climate Week will offer a platform for everyone from across Wales to join the discussions. We all have a role to play in realising the opportunities linked to tackling climate change, and everyone’s voice matters.
“The next five to ten years are crucial, and we must act now. We need to collaborate on the policy decisions and infrastructure changes where Wales has the power to lead. We also want to present discussions on how we can unlock the social, economic and wellbeing benefits that change can bring and ensure a fairer future for everyone in Wales.”
Alongside the virtual conference, organisations are also being invited to hold their own fringe event to coincide with Wales Climate Week. These events provide organisations with the chance to host their own discussion on the topics most relevant to them. A list of events will be available on the Wales Climate Week website.
Applications are also now open for the Climate Conversations grant fund, which allows organisations with strong community links to hold their own events. These events will be used to gather feedback and insight at a community level around the key topics being discussed during Wales Climate Week.
