The summer months can feel like an expensive time but leisure centres in Cardiff can help keep kids occupied for less than £10.

Activities on offer include free swimming for children 16 years and under, soft play for under 5s from £3.25, hour-long cycling lessons from £4.40, junior gym from £4.40, basketball, table tennis and badminton for kids aged 8 and over from £4.40, junior multi-sports drop-in sessions from £5.80, junior strength and conditioning for 11–15-year-olds from £6.20 and crash course swimming lessons from £4.50.

Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs 8 leisure facilities in Cardiff on behalf of the City Council. They are Eastern Leisure Centre, Fairwater Leisure Centre, Llanishen Leisure Centre, Maindy Centre, Pentwyn Leisure Centre, Penylan Library and Community Centre, Star Hub and Western Leisure Centre.

“We know how expensive it can be to keep children active, motivated and happy during the school holidays and our team has worked hard to put programmes in place in each of our centres that don’t cost the earth,” said Matt Simmons, GLL Transformation Manager.

“Prices range by activity and leisure centre but some are free, and others can be purchased in courses to reduce the cost.

“Visit individual websites to see what’s available.”
