Kilsby helps to grow Gorilla Grass

Gorilla Artificial Grass Ltd – a leader in the field of landscaping – looks set to grow on its South Wales roots and expand across the UK, into Ireland and Europe.

The expert in artificial lawns, which has its headquarters at the Uskside Business Park in Newport, has called on the professional services of accountancy and tax experts Kilsby Williams to assist in its ambitious growth plans.

Founders of Gorilla Artificial Grass, Lance Moran and Steve Duckham, originally trained in building, brickwork and driveways and started out in the imprinted concrete market seven years ago. After discovering an interest in virtually maintenance free garden products, they focussed on artificial grass as a fitting addition to their existing offering.

Lance Moran said: “Like concrete, artificial grass is an ideal solution for individuals who prefer a weed-free, hassle-free garden. While they are both a low maintenance option for the customer, grass is a lot easier to install for the landscaper than concrete, especially in poor weather. Installation also requires fewer technical skills and therefore, from a business perspective, it is easier to train our staff and expand the business.

“We started working with Kilsby Williams two years ago, through Business Wales, after a recommendation from a previous customer of theirs. They have assisted us from a financial and tax implication point of view, along with networking, introducing potential investors and spending time running through aspects of the business.

“Our plans now involve opening branches of Gorilla Artificial Grass in Dublin, Manchester, St Albans, Solihull and The Algarve. We’re looking at upscaling the business to provide a ‘business in a box’ for other landscapers, based on the hurdles that we have faced and overcome along the way.”
