Extensive clean-up and restoration works at Litchard Playing Fields are now nearing completion following the departure of an unauthorised caravan encampment that took place last week.
Council staff attended the site soon after the last caravan left the field and the work is now close to being completed, with the play area expected to reopen today following a final safety inspection.
Specialist contractors along with council staff, have spent the weekend cleaning, disinfecting and restoring all identified affected areas along with addressing matters highlighted by members of the public.
Final checks are now in the process of being carried out to the entirety of the field.
“Our priority has been to ensure the site is cleaned, restored and made safe for the community as quickly as possible and the fact that council workers started the clean-up within seconds of the last caravan leaving on Friday is testament to the commitment of our staff. “Throughout the process, the Council followed the appropriate legal process, and we would like to thank local residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the last week.”
