A new litter picking hub has opened in Grange Pavilion in Grangetown, Cardiff which allows the general public, community groups and businesses to borrow litter picking equipment to clean up their local area.

Grange Pavilion offers locals all the equipment needed to carry out a safe clean-up and keep their community looking beautiful. This includes litter pickers, hi-vis vests, rubbish bags and hoops.

To celebrate the launch of the litter picking hub a clean-up event is taking place on Wednesday 2 February between 15.45pm and 17.00pm. Locals are invited to grab a piece of the action and help keep Grangetown tidy.

The litter picking hubs have been set up by Keep Wales Tidy as part of their Caru Cymru initiative. Caru Cymru (a Welsh phrase meaning ‘Love Wales’) is an inclusive movement led by Keep Wales Tidy and local authority partners to eradicate litter and waste.

Grange Pavilion Litter Picking Hub Manager, Ali Abdi, said:

“We’re incredibly excited to launch a litter picking hub at Grange Pavilion on Wednesday 2 February. We encourage local individuals, businesses and groups to make good use of these new facilities to play a part in improving their local environment.”

Caru Cymru has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
