Llandaff Cathedral in Cardiff kicked off their Christmas festivities with a carol concert raising almost £4,000 for the NSPCC.
Set in magnificent surroundings, the concert took place on Wednesday 8 December and raised a fantastic £3,943.40. The event was also sponsored by The Peterson Family, who are dedicated supporters of NSPCC Cymru/Wales and Childline.

Guests enjoyed carols from Soul’d As Seen, Admiral Superchoir, Cor Heol y March and The Salvation Army Band, as well as festive readings and messages from Childline volunteer, Hayley Gordon and NSPCC Trustee Albert Heaney.

SW20 Radio also supported, promoted, and broadcast the carol concert for many other supporters to enjoy, since tickets for the event completely sold out.

Albert Heaney, Trustee for NSPCC Cymru/Wales, said: “Christmas is a special time of year to see our loved ones, our families and friends. A carol service can bring us all together. I do love a carol service and one on behalf of the NSPCC at the beautiful Llandaff Cathedral is such an exhilarating experience.

“The anticipation and excitement of all the quests was matched by an evening of wondrous music and voice. The choirs, the children’s choir, harpist, host, and readers cheered us all. Our reading on the impact of Childline supporting many thousands of children and young people in their time of need, impacted and connected on the importance of the NSPCC’s work. Thanks to all for their generosity, kindness, and support. Nadolig Llawen!”

Emma Brennan, Supporter Fundraising Manager for NSPCC Cymru/Wales, said: “The carol concert was a tremendous occasion and the perfect way to celebrate Christmas, particularly after being unable to spend it with friends and family last year.

“Every penny raised from the carol concert will help Childline be there for children and young people, whatever their worry or concern, this Christmas. We would like to say a big thank you to the Peterson family for their continued support, to all the performers and, of course, everyone who attended and donated to the NSPCC. We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”

The NSPCC and Llandaff Cathedral have confirmed that next year’s carol concert will be held on Friday 9 December 2022.
