The M48 Severn Bridge has been closed westbound following a collision, according to Traffic Wales.

Drivers travelling towards Wales are being advised that the bridge is currently shut, with traffic unable to pass in the westbound direction.

Motorists are being urged to follow diversion routes, with Traffic Wales recommending the nearby Prince of Wales Bridgeas the main alternative route.

The closure is expected to cause disruption, particularly for those travelling between England and South Wales, with delays likely while the incident is dealt with.

No further details about the collision or any injuries have been confirmed at this stage.

Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to check for the latest updates before travelling.
