Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet has this week (18 March) approved proposals to start the process of making an application for a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) to support the delivery of £20million essential repairs to the A469 at Troedrhiwfuwch.

The decision marks a significant step forward in addressing a long-standing landslip issue that has increasingly threatened the safety and reliability of this key strategic route linking communities between New Tredegar and Pontlottyn.

Cllr Nigel George, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Highways, said “This is a vital step in safeguarding a key transport link for our communities. The A469 plays a crucial role in connecting residents, supporting local businesses, and ensuring access for emergency services.

“While we remain committed to working constructively with landowners, progressing a Compulsory Purchase Order in parallel ensures we can deliver this essential scheme without unnecessary delay.”
