Paul Jenkins, aged 39, has been sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 20 years, for murdering his friend at his home.

61-year-old David Green was found dead at his home in Orchard Court, New Orchard Street, Swansea by officers on Sunday 9th April 2023.

On the 15th of September 2023 Paul Jenkins appeared in court and pleaded guilty to the murder of David Green sometime between the 6th and 9th April 2023, together with an offence of possession of a bladed article in Swansea on Friday 7th April.

On the afternoon of Sunday 9th April 2023, Paul Jenkins made himself known to officers at Swansea Central Police Station. Paul Jenkins disclosed that he had stabbed his friend, David Green, numerous times in David’s home, and didn’t believe he was still alive.

Officers attended the address in Orchard Court and found David Green deceased, having sustained multiple knife type injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Raikes said: “This was a senseless murder by Paul Jenkins upon a frail and vulnerable man. David Green was murdered in his home by someone whom he trusted and considered to be a friend. The level of violence displayed by Paul Jenkins was extreme and shows him to be a dangerous individual.

“I would like to thank the members of the community who provided us with information and supported the investigation.

“Our thoughts remain with David’s family and friends who grieve his loss, and who we continue to support . While today’s sentencing doesn’t bring David back, I hope it offers a degree of comfort to his family and friends that the man responsible is behind bars.”
