    Man stabbed at Barry Island as police launch investigation

    A police investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in the leg at Barry Island on Monday evening.

    Officers from South Wales Police confirmed the victim suffered a leg injury which is not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

    The incident happened earlier this evening, with police now carrying out enquiries to trace the suspect.

    Detective Superintendent Lisa Gore said: “Incidents such as this one are extremely rare and we understand how distressing this incident was for those in the area at the time.

    “We have launched an investigation and a team of officers are carrying out arrest enquiries for the suspect.

    “We have further increase the police presence in the area and this will continue over the coming days”.

    Police are urging anybody who witnessed the incident, or who may have information that could assist the investigation, to get in touch quoting reference number 2600163243.
