Detectives investigating an aggravated burglary at a home in Porthcawl are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A family was left terrified after a gang of masked men gained entry to their home on Austin Avenue around 10.15pm on Tuesday, August 4.

The burglars searched the address before making off with cash, jewellery and mobile phones.
Detective Inspector Emma Hampton said: “This was a terrifying incident which has left a family feeling vulnerable in the place where they should feel safest.

“Thankfully no one was physically harmed during the break-in, and such incidents are rare. However we are keen to identify those responsible and bring them to justice as quickly as possible to prevent any other families experiencing what this family has.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the vicinity of the address, both prior to and after the burglary, and in particular we are keen to trace a black Audi/ VW-type hatchback or which was seen in the area around the time of the offence.”

Anyone with information which could assist the investigation is urged to contact police via 101, quoting occurrence 2000280666.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.
