Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council’s Leader, Councillor Lisa Mytton has this week (8 December, 2021) announced a reshuffle of her Cabinet.

Following some extremely difficult years during the pandemic and delivering the Council’s transformation programme, Cllr Mytton now needs to reconfigure the Cabinet to better respond to the priorities, opportunities and pressures the Council face both now and in the future.

She said: “We have an ambitious improvement programme ahead of us, therefore it is clear that we need strong, focused leadership.

“In recent months, there has been a significant difference of opinion with some Cabinet members in relation to the corporate priorities and the sustainability of the Council.  With this reshuffle, I am confident that we will now have the right cabinet structure in place to achieve this.

“Going forward, it is imperative that the Political Executive of this Council act in a responsible and professional manner at all times and in all circumstances.”

Cllr Mytton added: “As well as reviewing the roles, I also want to look at building on the success of our transformation of this Council and look at new and innovative ways to make Merthyr Tydfil the best it possibly can be.

“This revised structure will provide Cabinet with a renewed focus and will better serve the needs of the organisation and our residents going forward.”
